After Lupus caused her kidneys to fail, Jessica Goldman Foung (aka Sodium Girl) refocused her life and work to study food, health, and the many ways they interact. In 2009, she started the blog Sodium Girl (www.sodiumgirl.com) to chronicle her tips and tricks in keeping a limitless, low-sodium life-- recently named a finalist in Saveur's Best Food Blogs Awards of 2012.
Jessica has also written about low-sodium diets for the Huffington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, Ladies Home Journal, Living Without, and Better Homes and Gardens. She regularly works on patient and consumer education campagins with the National Kidney Foundation, Whole Foods, Stanford Hospital, Lupus Foundation of America, and DaVita dialysis clinics. And she will release a salt-free, low-sodium cookbook (Bloody Marys and all) with Wiley in January, 2013.
