10 Absolutely Amazing Food Trucks Around the World

French fries heaped high with toppings, cheesy pizza, and stacked burgers don't have to come to a table in a sit-down restaurant. They can come straight into your hands as you wait in the sun, and that's a notion that has lovers of street food all over the world excited about the food truck craze. Food trucks have taken off in the United States — an estimated 4,130 of them are worth $1.2 billion as of 2015. Social media popularity and promotion has had a hand in the trucks' surge in status, and the industry has brought a new angle to classic street food, which is consumed by 2.5 billion people each day. But they're not only a novelty in the United States — food trucks are popular in Canada, Western Europe, and many other countries, as you'll see from our list. We found exciting food trucks selling their wares everywhere from Cape Town to Montreal, so next time you're on vacation, consider visiting one of these unique (and delicious) mobile eateries. Happy dreaming!

Le Camion à Pizzas (Paris)

This chic black pizza van makes its home in the CENTQUATRE, a place to experience art and enjoy architecture established by the Paris city council. Pick out toppings like marinated aubergine, Parma ham, and smoked salmon, and then wander around the arts center and take in the phenomenal creations.

Die Dollen Knollen-Puffermanufaktur (Berlin)

Fried potatoes? An assortment of toppings? A sweet ride? We're sold. This Berlin food truck has a seriously long name and some seriously good German potato pancakes with toppings like smoked fish and cottage cheese. The chefs are frying in style inside a vintage 1977 Citroën H van.

Emerson Fry Bread (Phoenix, Arizona)

This supremely colorful food truck may be the country's only one specializing in Native American cuisine, and it does it with a Mexican twist. It ranked No. 9 on our list of the Best Food Trucks in America 2015. Its unique menu offerings include a green chile chicken Indian taco with fry bread instead of a tortilla and a prickly pear-based drink.

LOTUS Food Truck (Cape Town)

This truck, designed with a burst of red and white, feeds Cape Town delicious Asian street food made from scratch every day. Even dipping sauces and dressings are made from scratch, and fresh seasonal ingredients are another plus. Menu options include spicy green mango salad, braised-beef short rib, and Vietnamese coffee.

Ms. Cheezious Fresh Made Grilled Cheese (Miami)

Coming in at No. 1 on our list of the Best Food Trucks in America 2015 is this food truck, which offers up 17 variations, as well as a build-your-own option. Highlights include the Crabby Cheese Melt with sharp Cheddar and crab salad and the Frito Pie Melt with house chili, jalapeños, onions, American cheese, and Fritos. The truck even has a dessert grilled cheese called the Sweet Meltdown with ricotta and an orange marmalade blend on Texas toast with a chocolate dipping sauce.

Mumbai Rolling Kitchen (Airoli, Mumbai)

This festive red food truck was opened almost a year ago by 28-year-old Sagar Waghule, according to the Hindustan Times. The menu is bursting with options like wraps, burgers, and grilled sandwiches. If you're a spicy food enthusiast, try the Mumbai Shahi wrap, which includes tandoori chicken, onion, tomato, masala omelette, and mint raita. The Mumbai Rolling Kitchen Burger, also a favorite, is made with grilled chicken breast, fried egg, cheese, and salsa.

Nero’s Pizza (Geneva)

This Geneva food truck creates beautiful Roman-sliced pizzas worthy of at least 50 Instagram likes, in our opinion. Ingredients are locally sourced in Switzerland whenever possible and neighboring Italy when necessary. The menu also includes fresh salads, desserts, and Italian espresso.

P.A. & Gargantua Grilled Cheese (Montreal)

Grilled cheese, for many of us, means fond memories from childhood, or even from college as we popped two slices of bread and some Cheddar in the microwave before heading to class. This truck does grilled cheese the classic way (with aged Cheddar from l'Ile-Aux-Grues and smoked butter), but also offers more daring inventions like a double grilled cheese with homemade chili and bread pudding. Salads are also on the menu for the more health-conscious members of your group.

Pyke ‘N’ Pommes (Derry, Northern Ireland)

After working in the restaurant business for 18 years, Kevin Pyke started Pyke 'N' Pommes, his own food truck specializing in burgers and utilizing local produce whenever possible. Fresh fish, slow-roasted pork, Irish beef burgers, chicken legs, and organic vegetables are all available. Yum-tastic.

Yum Bun (London)

First of all, we've got to give major props to this food truck on its uniquely designed, interactive website. Its pink-and-yellow truck specializing in steamed soft buns filled with goodies makes you happy just looking at it, and the food has the same effect. Menu highlights include a bun with Portobello mushrooms, toasted walnuts, and miso glaze; and one with Japanese fried chicken, Tarutaru sauce, chilli dressing, and lettuce.
