Putting together Thanksgiving dinner doesn’t take much creativity. Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie — the menu practically writes itself. But coming up with drinks to pair with the holiday meal is quite a bit more difficult.
While it doesn’t hurt to have a bottle of light-and-fruity Beaujolais nouveau on hand for wine drinkers, we wanted something more festive to serve tomorrow. So we challenged talented mixologist Aisha Sharpe, a Liquor.com advisor and co-founder of drinks consultancy Contemporary Cocktails, to come up with two recipes that include as many Thanksgiving flavors as possible.
Sharpe was more than up to the challenge, and her ingredient lists include many autumn favorites. Make her delicious Forbidden Fruit (lemon juice, Pimm’s No. 1, Laird’s Straight Bottled in Bond Apple Brandy, ginger beer), which is currently on the menu at New York hot spot The Breslin, before you sit down for the meal or while watching the game afterward. And serve her sweet-and-savory Winter Smash (Bulleit Bourbon, cranberries, rosemary, maple syrup, lemon juice) with your turkey and all the trimmings.
