Tips

  • Try the chicken and waffles - nothing's better than breakfast AND dinner combined.
  • Chicken and Waffles! Chicken and Waffles!
  • Make you you get a slice of the Red Velvet Cake. This is how Red Velvet is supposed to taste. :)
  • If you need a little comfort food, head over to Sylvia's for some authentic, lip-smacking Southern soul food.
  • Sylvia's has been visited by Nelson Mandela, Barack Obama, Magic Johnson & many others! In honor of Black History, see noteworthy examples of African-Americans' accomplishments: http://bet.us/BHM
  • For coming on 50 years, Sylvia's Restaurant has been the locus of Harlem's soul food scene. The weekend brunches jazz on Saturdays, gospel on Sundays are especially popular.
  • Amazing food! Friendly service! And great live gospel music on Sundays! As a Southern transport in the Big Apple, I highly recommend!
  • Have the ribs it's the best, if it's th weekend check out the Sunday breakfast
  • do you seriously like this place? the food is terrible and it's SO overpriced!
  • I'm sure at some point this restaurant served great soul food but the 4 or 5 times I've eaten there it has been nothing but disappointing. Bad service and just mediocre food.
  • Pass on this extremely overrated Harlem landmark.
  • The chicken really is fantastic. White meat is super juicy and huge pieces! Collard greens and Mac and cheese are delicious. Didn't care for the ribs tho. Not bad, just not faaaaaabulous.
  • The food is AMAZING!!! Real traditional southern cuisine. I had the meatloaf, collards, mac n cheese, garlic mash potatoes and catfish fingers. OMGosh DELICIOUS!!!! Can't wait to go back
  • Tweetie is a sweetheart. Ask for her if you can
  • An institution in Harlem, but Sylvia's now has tons of competition. Grits are good :)
  • Try the Chicken and Waffles
  • horrible service!!!!
  • Come in and just enjoy the food & the history and if your going to complain...eat somewhere else!
  • They said they did not put butter in the grits. But they do I found out
  • Biscuits here are sooo good.
