Summer Food: Grilled Lobster Tails

Summer Food: Grilled Lobster Tails

The thought of summer-time conjures up a few images for me, the kids building cities made of sand, soft serve ice cream with sprinkles, lazy hazy nights, and oh yes lobster {if you grill them they’re even dreamier!}

A few weeks back Will caught an amazing sale on lobster tails. They weren’t huge, but they were perfect for our little surf-n-turf meal we were grilling up.

Grilling has become our favorite ways to cook together. It involves a real team effort – normally I’m inside marinating and chopping while he’s prepping the grill.

He loves to man the grill and to be honest I have no problem with that because it gives me time to sit back and sip some sweet iced tea!

These grilled lobster tails are made super easy – they’re lobster you don’t need to add much to make ’em good! A pinch of salt, some butter and lime {or lemon} is all you need for an amazing grilled summer meal!

  1. lobster tails
  2. butter
  3. minced garlic
  4. sea salt
  5. limes {or lemons}

  1. The recipe and method is very easy so the first step is to prepare your grill. You’ll want to grill the lobster tails on medium high heat.
  2. Use a sharp pair of kitchen shears to cut a slit down the back of the lobster tail to the tail fan.
  3. We added minced garlic, a sprinkle of seat salt, a pad of butter and a lime slice inside each lobster tail.
  4. Place the tails cut side down on the grill {grill on indirect heat}.
  5. Cook for about 5-7 minutes and then flip them over – cook them on the direct heat and close the lid.
  6. This will only take about 5 minutes – maybe even less depending on the size of your lobster tails so stay close by you definitely don’t want to over-cook these! Tip

  1. Lobster tails are done when an internal read thermometer like a thermapen reads 145 degrees.
