You're Likely Freezing Bananas Wrong, But We've Got You Covered
By Harriette Halepis
Freezing bananas is a great way to preserve them when they start darkening, but to ensure you get the most out of your frozen bananas, you need to freeze them correctly.
The best way to freeze bananas (or, at least, the fastest and most effective) is to tear them into strips, place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and freeze.
Once frozen, put the pieces into a plastic freezer bag and store them in the freezer until you're ready to use them for banana smoothies or ice cream.
If you plan to use a whole banana, you can simply remove the skins from overripe bananas and place them in a bag. However, cutting a banana once it's frozen will be tough.
It's best to freeze them when they begin to brown. Bananas are sweeter when overripe, which means they'll be ideal for cooking and baking later when frozen at this stage.
