Your Microwave Is Crucial For Opening Oysters Without Shucking
By Julia Mullaney
Shucking oysters can be a bit of a hassle as you need to remove the shell with a knife. You can get injured if you're not sure how to do it, but using the microwave can help.
Start by placing the oysters on a plate, cupped-side down. Make sure they're not directly on top of one another, and set your microwave timer for no more than one minute.
Keep an eye on them so they don't start cooking and turn rubbery, then remove them. The heat from the microwave should help the oyster shells open up on their own.
Although this is the quickest and safest way to open oysters, it's not the most ideal method and should only be used if you're under serious time constraints.
