You Need To Get On Board With Cornbread Sticks
By C.A. Pinkham
There's no region as heavily associated with cornbread as the American South, and one example of an extraordinary preparation of this country staple is cornbread sticks.
Made in the right pan, cornbread sticks are made to look like corn cobs, making for a surprisingly fun dish that doesn't sacrifice taste.
Cornbread sticks generally include the same, standard ingredients. You need cornmeal and fat like shortening, oil, butter, or bacon fat to grease the pan and keep the bread moist.
You also need sugar, salt, flour, eggs, buttermilk, baking powder, baking soda, and a cast iron pan. It gets hot easily and holds that temperature well to evenly cook the batter.
They also make cast iron cornbread stick pans to make the cornbread sticks look like corn cobs. You can season your bread with your preferred savory or sweet flavorings.
