Why You Should Skip Snapdragon Chicken Pad Thai At Costco
By Stacie Adams
Snapdragon, a brand that provides Asian-inspired meals to Costco, offers an instant chicken pad Thai that's leaving many shoppers with a bad taste in their mouths.
Tastes vary from person to person, but the dish has been dubbed "Worse than cat food" and subsequently given a 0 out of 10 rating in the flavor department.
Many vowed never to eat it again, and one Costco shopper described it on Reddit as "Among the worst meals I've had in years. Quite possibly one of the worst I've had in my life."
The person said that the dish was a far cry from genuine pad Thai, which typically consists of rice noodles, tofu, eggs, and bean sprouts that are seasoned and stir-fried.
Costco's spin on the recipe swaps chicken for tofu, which is paired with veggies, rice noodles, and pad Thai sauce. Everything is pre-cooked, so it simply needs to be reheated.
The sauce that's included has come under fire for its tomato-forward flavor, whereas authentic pad Thai sauce has a sweet and savory flavor from ingredients like lime and tamarind.
