Why You Should Make Potato Croquettes In Your Air Fryer
By Jennifer Mathews
The croquette is a French dish that is said to have been invented in the late 19th century by Auguste Escoffier, the French chef who modernized traditional French cooking. While each culture has a version of the fried snack with different fillings, the original mashed potato version is one of the more popular ones, and you can make it in 10 minutes with an air fryer.
An air fryer doesn't precisely produce deep-fried results, but it does help the food to develop a crisp exterior with a few tablespoons of oil, versus the cups required in deep frying. A few tweaks to the cooking time, a couple of shakes to the air fryer basket, and a lower temperature are pretty much enough for a batch of crispy potato croquettes with a creamy mashed potato center.
For the best results, use an egg to bind your mashed potatoes together and form them into patties, balls, or logs before rolling each croquette into flour, egg, and breadcrumbs. Finally, use a vegetable oil spray to lightly coat the croquettes and air fry them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for five minutes or until golden brown and warmed through.
