Why One Couple Got Married In An Aldi Produce Aisle
By Chase Shustack
On November 9, 2022, the Aldi Insight Center in Batavia, Illinois, a "model grocery store," was the wedding venue for one couple who got married in its aisles. From a professional photographer and travel accommodations to a full-fledged reception held at the wine and beer section, complete with chicken sliders, coconut shrimp, cocktails, and a three-tiered cake, Aldi paid for everything.
With a grocery store employee officiating the marriage, Michael Hurd and Jessica Bojanowski exchanged vows as Aldi's first couple married under its roof. Explaining why Aldi is so special to them, the couple noted, "We work opposite schedules, so weekends are the only time we get to really see each other. We've always cherished our Sunday morning Aldi shopping dates."
To enter this once-in-a-lifetime chance, all you had to do was write a 500-word essay stating why you and your partner deserved to finalize your love within the halls of Aldi. Of the first 500 entries, one lucky couple (Mr. and Mrs. Hurd) got the chance to tie the knot in the Aldi Insight Center, where produce and passion abound.
