Why It's So Important To Check Your Energy Drink Labels

While energy drinks can provide us with the jolt we need, they can also have severe drawbacks, so you should take time to look at the labels to be sure just how much caffeine you're drinking. While an average cup of coffee can have anywhere between 70-200mg of caffeine, certain energy drinks can contain up to 400mg of caffeine in a can.
Caffeine can be an addictive substance, and extreme amounts can affect your central nervous system. When someone who has a caffeine addiction goes without caffeine, they may experience headaches, exhaustion, difficulty in concentrating, nausea, muscle pain, and irritability.
While the worst things a coffee drinker will likely experience are symptoms of insomnia and nervousness, there have been cases where consuming extreme amounts of energy drinks led to serious consequences. For instance, a young man in the United Kingdom was diagnosed with heart failure after consuming an average of four energy drinks per day.
Therefore, it's always best to consume energy drinks in moderation and focus more on natural, healthier ways to increase one's energy. Fortunately, even if you have been consuming large amounts of caffeine, most symptoms of caffeine addiction can be treated by simply weaning yourself off of it.
