Why It Pays To Take A Chance On Costco's New Cabernet
By Brianna Corley
Costco may be famous for wholesale deals and delicious samples, but the warehouse retailer is also well-known for its alcohol selection, which just got a bit bigger with the addition of a new wine option. Costco has added The Prisoner’s new Unshackled Cabernet Sauvignon to shelves, and if you’re a wine drinker you should definitely check it out.
Costco offers high-quality alcohol that is nearly 20% cheaper than other retailers, and the new Unshackled Cabernet Sauvignon is no different. It retails for only $16.99 — a steal considering that some bottles listed on The Prisoner’s website retail for up to $45. However, its price point isn’t the only draw, and the wine is sure to delight both seasoned and new wine drinkers.
The Unshackled Cabernet features hints of black stone fruit and clove, and it is low in tannins, meaning that it’s softer, less bitter, and slightly sweeter than similar wines. Plus, The Prisoner’s high-quality wines are generally well-received, and shoppers were delighted when Costco brought the brand’s black licorice-esque Saldo Zinfandel to its shelves.
