Why Chipotle's Cheese Grater Is Causing A Happy Stir On Tiktok
By Haldan Kirsch
According to Chipotle's values, it prioritizes "real ingredients" that are made by hand every day by its suppliers, and one factor of this operation style has some fans surprised. It caused quite a stir on social media when one Chipotle employee took to TikTok to share the cheese grating process they go through every day to ensure that the cheese they serve is fresh and delicious.
In the video, Chipotle employee Daniela Morales shows that all of Chipotle's cheese comes to the store in giant blocks, which are broken down into smaller blocks using a wire cheese cutter and then fed into a grating machine. Per Morales, the process takes a long time depending on the store’s cheese needs for the day, but it's still one of her favorite tasks to perform at work.
In the comments, Morales adds that cheese is one of the items that the restaurant won't hold overnight, so the process is executed at every store, every day. Some commenters used the video as a space to show their appreciation for this freshly prepared cheese, with one person noting, "I knew it was too good to come pre shredded. Thank you for your service."
