Which Brand Makes Aldi's Winking Owl Wines?
By Allie Sivak
Aldi's exclusive in-house wine brand, Winking Owl, offers a hefty selection of affordable red, white, and rosé wines, most of which are priced at under $5 per bottle.
Winking Owl wines are supplied by the E&J Gallo Winery, which is based out of Modesto, California, and is a global wine producer working with over 3,000 suppliers.
E&J Gallo Winery is a family-owned company that prides itself on quality and strong expertise in marketing, sales, and distribution, helping to make its wines inexpensive.
As "one of the largest family-owned wineries" in the world, according to Forbes, Gallo promotes quality products, stand-out customer service, and a commitment to land conservation.
Gallo now has several wineries across California, New York, and Washington and is able to produce quality brands, like Winking Owl, at a low price due to its wide-ranging reach.
Though Gallo's range of wines is sold throughout over 100 countries, Aldi has found a way to make drinking the bottles of wine easy and even offers a 3-liter boxed white blend.
The back label of each bottle contains references like wine-tasting notes and food pairings. The Winking Owl Merlot is especially great in a refreshing summer sangria.
