Where Is Wondry From Shark Tank Today?
By Nick Johnson
The award-winning wine brand, Wondry Wine, found success on the hit series "Shark Tank" when founders Whitney and Chaz Gates struck a deal with Mark Cuban to gain $225,000 in exchange for 15% equity in the business. The other sharks opted against investing in the fruit-forward dessert drink company, but here's what happened to it after the show.
Wondry Wine secured a partnership with Southern Glazer's, the world's biggest alcohol distributor. Chaz, who is among the 1% of Black winemakers, stated that the partnership "will make our dream to shatter glass ceilings by filling glass bottles a true reality and hopefully enable us the opportunity to open doors for those behind us."
The official Wondry Wine website features a "Shark Tank" Collection with three wines featured on the show. The $65 collection consists of the company's best-selling bottle, a fruity, light-bodied red wine called Sangria Especial; the alcohol-infused dairy dessert drink, Vanilla Caramel Cream; and Peach in Peace, a white wine infused with peach extract.
