What's The Difference Between Cappuccinos And Lattes?
By Aimee Lamoureux
Cappuccinos and lattes are distinct from a standard cup of coffee because their base is made with espresso rather than coffee. While both use steamed milk, foam, and a standard one-ounce serving of espresso, cappuccinos and lattes are different in terms of preparation.
Cappuccinos are made with distinct layers of espresso, steamed milk, and foam, with higher quantities of milk foam than steamed milk, giving the drink a light, airy texture. Lattes are made with more blended layers of steamed milk and espresso, topped off with a thin layer of foam coating, making for a smoother, richer, and creamier drink.
Many people enjoy the light, smooth, and slightly sweet flavor of cappuccino or latte, but if you are looking for a caffeine boost, a cup of regular coffee is your best bet. Cappuccinos and lattes are heavily diluted with milk, containing between 170 and 220 mg of caffeine per serving, so if you need an extra caffeine dose, reach for your regular 8-ounce cup of joe.
