What To Keep In Mind Prior To Trying Costco's Massive Stir-Fry Kit
By Stacie Adams
If you're a Costco member and a fan of stir-fry dishes, buying the store's sizable yakisoba stir-fry kit seems like a no-brainer. However, there are a few caveats to consider.
You will need a substantially sized pan to hold all the ingredients. If you’re using a wok, it will need to be at least 7 quarts to accommodate four to six servings.
If you're using a frying pan, it should measure at least 12 to 14 inches. If you have neither, split the kit into separate portions to ensure uniform application of soy sauce.
The kit comes with soy sauce, but some Redditors feel it’s too salty. You can add a few drops of water to water it down or other ingredients like lime juice for a tangy flavor.
When it comes to the cook times, a YouTube review of Costco's yakisoba stir fry kit illustrates that the cooking time will be a little longer than what the instructions say.
The instructions suggest cooking it for five minutes at medium-high heat on the stovetop. In the review, it was cooked for about six minutes beyond what was listed.
This extra time ensured the noodles were thoroughly heated. The reviewer admitted that it could actually be cooked for even longer to ensure the vegetables were soft and toothsome.
Another issue was the size of the chicken and the vegetables, which may have been cooked faster if they were broken down into smaller pieces.
