What Makes Amish Macaroni Salad Different From All The Others?
By Laura Zbinden
The main characteristic of Amish macaroni salad that sets it apart is its dressing, which has a sweet and acidic flavor thanks to the addition of sugar and vinegar.
The pasta salad is also deliciously addicting because of its creamy texture. Unlike other macaroni salads that may be more oily, Amish macaroni salad is creamy and thick.
If you want it even thicker, put it in the fridge overnight to soak up the remaining liquid. For a slightly wetter salad, serve it immediately after making it.
Another ingredient that sets Amish macaroni salad apart and gives it a crunch in every bite, is the addition of large chopped veggies like bell peppers, red onion, and celery.
You can also add protein to an Amish macaroni salad by including chopped hardboiled eggs, which will also give it a richer flavor.
