What Happened To Trader Joe's Honey Butter Potato Chips?
By Brianna Corley
If you were shopping at Trader Joe’s in 2017, you might’ve run into Honey Butter chips brought to stores after a similar version became wildly popular in Korea. Topped with golden honey and savory butter, these chips made a serious mark on loyal Trader Joe’s customers, making it more surprising when they disappeared from the shelves.
The honey butter chips were discontinued in 2018, and many Trader Joe’s fans revealed that the sweet chips had a flavor that was a little too hard to get used to, with one review describing them as “downright odd.” Moover, the chips allegedly had incorrect nutrition labels, so with all that in mind Trader Joe’s likely thought it would be best to cut its losses with the product altogether.
Fans of these chips will be glad to know that you can petition Trader Joe's to bring back its discontinued honey butter chips — or any discontinued product — by filling out the form on the “discontinued product feedback” section of its website. The best stand-in for these chips is the Korean brand Calbee Honey Butter Chips, which TJ’s patterned their product after and can be found online.
