Use Your Slow Cooker For The Easiest Homemade Beef And Broccoli
By Crystal Antonace
If you enjoy Chinese takeout-style beef and broccoli, you can make it at home in your slow cooker with some time and preparation that can be done a day or a few hours in advance.
Using a skirt or flank steak, add your sliced meat to a plastic bag with water, brown sugar, soy sauce, chopped garlic, and ginger, and marinate it in your refrigerator overnight.
Dump everything into your slow cooker and cook the meat for seven hours on low or three to four hours on the high setting. When done, remove the steak and gently pull it apart.
Thicken the sauce with cornstarch and water, and cook it on high for 15 minutes. Add the meat back in, along with fresh or thawed broccoli florets, and cook for another 15 minutes.
You can also prepare rice to serve with the dish. Once you have perfected this simple recipe, you can try adding a multitude of ingredients to add more color and texture.
