Transform Basic Canned Tuna Into A Delicious Protein-Packed Dip
By Grace Allison
Canned tuna is seriously nutritious and the perfect canvas for anyone looking to elevate their protein intake, especially with a protein-packed canned tuna dip.
There are many varieties of canned tuna, from chunk to flaky. A 1-ounce can of water-packed tuna contains 6 grams of protein, while a 1-ounce portion in oil holds up to 8 grams.
Instead of adding fat and creaminess to the dip with mayonnaise, consider using other creamy, higher-protein options, such as cream cheese, cottage cheese, or Greek yogurt.
Cream cheese has around 2 grams of protein per ounce, with a smooth, substantial texture and a tangy flavor perfect for a spreadable and savory tuna dip.
Another option is cottage cheese, which contains around 3.5 grams of protein per ounce. Blend this with sun-dried tomatoes, scallions, and dill for a delicious, thick dip.
Greek yogurt contains 2.8 grams of protein per ounce. When mixed with buffalo sauce, mozzarella, and fresh herbs, the result is a super tangy tuna dip packed with protein.
You could also add a non-dairy protein source to the tuna creation, like cannellini beans or the Maltese dip, arjoli, which mixes canned tuna with anchovy fillets.
