The Unexpectedly Tasty Substitute For Breadcrumbs
By Kuamel Stewart
Breadcrumbs are a key ingredient when cooking crispy chicken or seafood, but if you need a healthier ingredient for your breading, rolled oats are your answer.
Rolled oats will give your dish a nutritional boost and provide a mild and nutty-flavored coating for any food you might typically coat with breadcrumbs.
Rolled oats are also loaded with nutritional benefits. They contain no cholesterol, are a great source of fiber, are low in sodium, and are packed with vitamins and minerals.
To change the texture of rolled oats into the comparable crumbly texture of breadcrumbs, blend them in a food processor that has a milling blade.
If you want to add flavor to your rolled oats, you can add seasoning like garlic powder, thyme, onion powder, and dried herbs, or you can even experiment with exotic spices.
