The Unexpected Ingredient That Will Take Your Mimosa Up A Notch
By Camryn Teder
A mimosa is a perfect way to top off a morning brunch with friends, as it’s a bubbly and refreshing drink that packs a surprising amount of Vitamin C and skin-clearing antioxidants. Although it’s effortlessly tasty on its own, there’s one unexpected ingredient that can take your mimosa to a new level of deliciousness.
It’s not hard to find substitutions to jazz up your mimosa, including swapping out your orange juice with cranberry juice for a different kind of sweet edge, or adding a splash of pineapple juice for a tropical feel. You can’t go wrong with the combination of champagne and orange juice, but it would be a shame to miss out on using this one unexpected ingredient — grenadine.
To wow your brunch guests, pour a gentle stream of grenadine into your completed mimosa (a concoction formally referred to as a sunrise mimosa) to add an unforgettable colorful twist. If you pour the grenadine slowly and steadily, the result should be a sunrise look with the cherry red color seeping into the orange and yellow hues of the orange juice.
