The Unexpected Difference Between American And Australian Chocolate Bars
By Ree Winter
For reasons known only to the confectionery brand, Mars Wrigley has chosen to make particular chocolate bars differently in the U.S. and Australia. As a result, there are things to look out for the next time you pick up a Milky Way or Mars Bar in either country.
Besides their different packaging, the Australian Milky Way has no caramel and is closer to an American 3 Musketeers bar, with the main difference being the width of the bar. The Mars Bar, which became a hit in Britain and Australia, is more similar to the American Milky Way.
One TikToker gave his fellow Australians living in the U.S. some instructions for buying chocolate: "[If] you want a Milky Way, you have to buy a 3 Musketeers. And if you want a Mars Bar, you have to buy a Milky Way." Despite that, some candy favorites will be the same, such as M&Ms, Skittles, Twix, and Snickers.
