The Uncommon Additions To Amp Up The Flavor Of Deviled Eggs
By Betsy Parks
Any ingredients you can add to mayonnaise or aioli can also be used to make incredible deviled eggs. For example, if you like spicy mayonnaise, add sriracha to your deviled eggs.
For sweet and salty combinations, add a tablespoon of maple syrup to the yolks and garnish with bacon bits, or mix honey and mustard with the yolks and garnish with bacon or ham.
If you crave a sweet and sour combination, add pickle juice from bread and butter pickles. You can garnish it with a pickle or experiment using other flavors, like olives.
Mash avocado (or pre-made guacamole) into the egg yolk for avocado toast-inspired deviled eggs, or add a little salsa for a chili and tomato flavor akin to huevos rancheros.
Curry spices are also delicious in deviled eggs. Try experimenting with chili flakes, ginger, and garlic to make Thai-inspired eggs, and garnish with cilantro.
