The Tasting Tip That Rescues Subpar Salad Dressing
By Stacie Adams
You can determine whether your salad dressing is just right by sampling it twice. This double test lets you know if you're happy with the flavor and texture of your dressing.
Taste ¼ teaspoon of the dressing by itself to see if you like the balance of flavors. Then, taste it again on a piece of lettuce or another ingredient from your salad.
Keep in mind that even tasty dressings can falter when blended with the rest of your salad components, which is why it's so important to try them out together before serving.
Consider what's missing in the dressing or if any ingredients are overwhelming. For example, a bright, tangy, acidic dressing can be tempered with honey for mild sweetness.
If your dressing has too much oil or tastes bland, you can add some salt and also thin it out with an acidic ingredient like fresh lemon juice or vinegar.
