The Store-Bought Angel Food Cake Hack Chocolate Fans Need To Try
By John Segura
Serving store-bought cake can be embarrassing, but thankfully there's a quick hack that will transform a grocery-baked cake into a treat that will impress any guest.
To elevate any store-bought angel food cake, you only need whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and Heath toffee candy bars. You can also add rum for a more adult-oriented experience.
The creative hack comes from Barbara Costello, who uploaded a video of the process on her TikTok page, BrunchWithBabs, that's already received over 60 thousand likes.
First, slice your cake heightwise into three equally-divided portions. Then, place your candy in a tightly sealed plastic bag and use a mallet or rolling pin to break the pieces.
From there, mix the heavy cream until it's at a soft peak consistency, and pour in chocolate syrup and other ingredients or flavorings.
Then bring the mixture to the right texture with additional mixing and simply rebuild your cake with layers of cream, toppings, and cake until you achieve its original shape.
