The Simple Way To Upgrade Store-Bought Vanilla
Ice Cream
By Wendy Gould
Merriam-Webster defines vanilla as "lacking distinction" and lists "plain, ordinary, and conventional" as three synonyms. However, we think "loaded with potential" should be added, because potential, options, and endless possibilities are precisely what the flavor offers.
A simple way to upgrade vanilla ice cream is to change the flavor by using a standing mixer and mixing it with fruits like blueberries, strawberries, kiwis, blackberries, and bananas. You can try adding coffee, peanut butter, or a flavored syrup like caramel or chocolate as well.
Adding candy or cookie bits to the ice cream while keeping the vanilla base flavor unchanged — or after changing it to other flavorings — is also a great way to enhance vanilla ice cream. Regardless of what you do, add toppings like nuts or ice cream sauce to complete the upgrade.
