The Simple Way To Clean Your Dishwasher And Fridge Gaskets

Keeping your kitchen clean is important, but it can be easy to forget about deep-cleaning things you don't often interact with, like the refrigerator and dishwasher gaskets.
A dishwasher gasket creates a barrier to keep water inside during the washing cycle, and a refrigerator gasket keeps cold air in to keep your food fresh and safe to eat.
While these may be often overlooked, you can create one simple solution to keep the two different areas clean. You just need to make a mixture of water and vinegar or bleach.
Use this cleaning solution to simply wipe down the gaskets with a soft microfiber cloth while cleaning the inside of your dishwasher door or refrigerator.
Mix your vinegar or bleach with an equal amount of water so the direct exposure doesn't damage the rubber. Bleach sanitizes well, but it needs to be diluted to protect the gaskets.
White distilled vinegar is the best choice for cleaning. It's a little gentler on the rubber, but its acidity can also cause damage, so dilution with water is essential.
Check the manual for your machine to determine the best cleaning method. Some appliances recommend water only as a cleaner for gaskets, or you can adjust the dilution ratio.
