The Saucy Reason UK Subway's 'Nachos' Should Be Avoided At
All Costs
By Lauren Wood
Subway has been notorious for scandal in recent years, including a footlong sub that wasn't a footlong and bread that didn't constitute "bread." While Doritos have become intertwined with the fast-food industry thanks to brands like Taco Bell, Subway’s attempt to add Dorito nachos to their U.K. menu ended up a failure as well.
Subway describes their "Doritos Lightly Salted Nachos" as a combination of Doritos tortilla chips, cheese, jalapeños, and salsa. However, “Food Wars” host Harry Kersh’s nachos were drowned in salsa on one side with slightly melted cheese sprinkled on the other, with a few sad slices of jalapeños scattered about.
Kersh’s fellow host Joe Avella stated of the item, "Those are the kind of nachos you make in your 20s when you're drunk at 2 in the morning... That is the most depressing plate of nachos I've ever seen." The nachos were even listed as a fast-food item you should never order in the U.K. by Insider, so it’s safe to say the dish was not a hit.
