The Recycling Hack That Will Fix Your Smelly Tupperware
By Aimee Lamoureux
Tupperware is one of the most useful inventions of the 20th century, but the polypropylene that it’s made from can hold on to smells even after washing. However, a foul smell doesn’t necessarily mean it’s time to toss your Tupperware.
According to Lifehacker, old newspapers have deodorizing properties, so all you have to do is wash the Tupperware, crumble up pieces of newspaper, and stuff them inside the sealed container. Leave the paper inside overnight, and the odor should magically be gone.
If you don’t have a newspaper, you can fill the clean Tupperware with water and a tablespoon of baking soda and let it sit for an hour. Mixing warm water and ¼ cup of vinegar or lemon juice is another alternative that can get rid of stubborn odors, or try storing dry coffee grounds in your Tupperware overnight.
