The Reason Walmart Groceries Are
So Cheap

Even those who aren’t the biggest fans of Walmart can’t deny its prices can be hard to pass up, especially in the grocery department. A Memphis Fox13 investigative segment in May 2022 revealed that compared with 10 grocery items from other stores, Walmart beat the competition by as much as five dollars — and it all comes down to Walmart’s financial footprint.
According to grocery store analyst John Karolefski, "Walmart can demand the lowest price from vendors and manufacturers and get the lowest price from them because they have so many stores." Today, Walmart is the largest U.S. retailer, which comes in handy when negotiating for lower prices.
Groceries aren’t the only items that Walmart sells for less, as you can walk in and buy items from photo print-outs to vacuums to Chromebook computers for a much lower amount compared to other stores. The price difference isn't always substantial, but over time, the savings can add up and make a noticeable difference in your bank account.
