The Reason McDonald's Takes Your Picture If You're Picking Up A Drive-Thru Order
By Stacie Adams
If you've ever visited a McDonald's drive-thru at a hectic time of day, you may have wondered how the staff knows which order belongs to which vehicle.
An employee revealed that the restaurant uses strategically placed cameras at its drive-thrus. Employees refer to the image to ensure vehicles receive the correct order.
A McDonald's Crew Member on Quora claims a picture of the vehicle is taken when the order is punched in. At times, the camera will also capture a picture of the license plate.
Staff are apparently instructed to verify the plates when the store isn't too busy, but they can also verify the correct vehicle according to the car's color.
The chain's drive-thru cameras also serve a security purpose, as they deter pranksters from visiting McDonald's on foot or bicycle.
