The Reason It May Be Worth Refrigerating Tortillas
By Allie Sivak
Since store-bought tortillas can be prone to molding and going stale if not used at once, storing them in the refrigerator will extend their shelf life and keep them soft and pliable.
After you open the package, it's also important to avoid leaving tortillas out on the counter for a long time or transferring it back and forth from the fridge.
Once chilled, moisture (which can promote mold growth) can condense in the package with fluctuations in temperature, so play it safe by keeping it in the fridge.
Reheat your refrigerated tortillas in a pan or cast iron skillet with a bit of butter. If you’re in a hurry, wrap the tortillas in moist paper towels and pop them in the microwave.
