The Reason Costco's Self-Checkout System Leaves A Lot To Be Desired
By Branden C. Potter
Costco's new self-checkout policy requires its members to show two forms of identification when using self-checkout to curb membership card-sharing and shoplifting.
The new checkout policy has not gone down well with its members, and many Reddit users who claim to be Costco members are voicing their opinions on having to show their IDs.
One user said, "It's not the rules that are the problem, it's the overzealous enforcement of them. Costco workers are being extremely disrespectful to members about it."
Costco also restricts the use of hand scanners to its employees, which poses challenges, especially when there are bulky items in your cart and a shortage of staff.
To help your self-scanner experience run smoothly, you should shop first thing in the morning or later in the evening on weekdays to avoid crowded lines.
