The Pantry Soup You Should Be Adding To Every Burrito
By Brianna Corley
Salsa, protein, and a tortilla are some defining features of any good burrito, but after you put these burrito-making tools in your cart, you still need beans. While you could buy beans in a can that would require draining and seasoning, Goya reports that you can make your life easier and your burritos tastier by skipping the lentils and heading straight for the soup aisle.
According to the Bean Institute, black bean soup is also a traditional part of Mexican cuisine and is easy to find at most grocery stores. This pre-made soup comes seasoned with vegetables that will make your burrito taste as good as one from Chipotle; for example, Goya offers black bean soups with onion and bell pepper or seasoned with pepper and garlic.
As all the work is done for you, Goya reports that you only have to heat the canned black bean soup until it’s thickened, adding chopped chipotle to your soup for an extra kick of flavor if desired. Then simply pour your thickened soup along the middle of your burrito, followed by toppings, to make the perfect bean burrito dinner.
