The One Recipe Ree Drummond Can't Completely Perfect
By Margaret McCormick
Ree Drummond has captivated readers with an award-winning blog, The Pioneer Woman; a quarterly magazine; and seven cookbooks. However, one thing you won't see on Drummond's website is homemade artisan bread, as the popular Food Network star would be the first to tell you that these kinds of breads aren’t in her wheelhouse.
"Bread is the only thing separating me from utter peace and serenity,” Drummond confessed to Delish. "I'm pretty good at quick cakes and quick breads, but yeast-risen, artisan bread? So far, in my life, it hasn't happened for me." Between the fermentation, the rising, the kneading, and the proofing, baking artisan bread can be a labor-intensive, time-consuming task.
It doesn’t sound as if Drummond is up for the challenge, though. In an interview with podcast host Amanda Lauren, Drummond stated that her bread-making skills are "embarrassingly bad” and not worthy of sharing with an audience. "I won't be the host of any artisan bread instructional shows, now or in the future," The Pioneer Woman noted.
