The One Ingredient You Need For The Crispiest Roasted Veggies
By Riya Anne Polcastro
If your roasted veggies lack crisp, add a bit of cornstarch. Cornstarch’s ability to suck up moisture helps vegetables maintain their crispiness in the oven.
First, toss your chopped veggies in seasonings and oil or melted butter. Add a light dusting of cornstarch, toss them again, and roast at a high heat.
You can use this technique to get any variety of roasted vegetables just right. McCormick recommends using one tablespoon for every pound of veggies you cook.
Cornstarch also doesn’t omit any flavor or odors. As an anticaking agent, it effectively wicks away moisture from food, leaving you with crispy roasted veggies.
