The McDonald's UK Vegan Meal You Should Avoid (And What To Order Instead)
By Arianna Endicott
Harry Kersh is one of the co-hosts of "Food Wars" on the Insider Food YouTube channel, and he discusses British fast foods, providing his honest opinions and reviews of them compared to foods from other countries around the world. Regarding one McDonald's vegan menu item, Kersh recommends staying away altogether.
McDonald's U.K. added Veggie Dippers — made from red pepper, rice, tomato pesto, and split peas, then breaded and fried — to its menu in January 2020. Kersh notes that the flavor is under-seasoned, and the feel is "mushy,” and he does not think they are even worth ordering.
He does say that the taste of the Veggie Dippers was improved by the addition of McDonald's curry sauce but suggests staying away from the Veggie Dippers entirely. Instead, Kersh recommends the McPlant: a vegan burger developed with Beyond Meat, topped with vegan sauces, vegan cheese, onions, pickles, lettuce, and tomato on a sesame seed bun.
