The Fried Rice Hack That Eliminates Your Stove From The Equation
By Greta Pano
If you want fried rice and don't want to spend extra time and attention stir-frying it on the stove, you can achieve a similar texture by broiling or baking it in the oven.
Baking fried rice is easier than stir-frying on the stove but takes longer than broiling due to the lower temperature; it also doesn't crisp quite as much.
A broiler uses high, direct heat to quickly brown rice and give it a crispy, caramelized outer layer. Position the oven rack close to the top of the oven for the best results.
Cover a sheet pan with a layer of day-old, cooked white rice to broil your rice. If you don't have any leftovers, cook white rice and refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes.
Drizzle the rice with oil and broil it for around 10 minutes. Remove it from the oven, transfer it into a bowl, and stir in your pre-cooked add-in ingredients.
