The first innovation of French's mustard came in 1974 with the introduction of its plastic barrel squeeze bottle. In 2002, they brought us the "flip tip cap," which was designed to pull mustard back into the bottle, rather than have it spill into the lid where it could gunk up the seal.

French's wants your bottle experience to be a clean one, so the company continues to innovate. They’ve introduced a small peg on the shoulder of their mustard lid that locks the flip-top cap into a wide-open position.

Other companies are introducing squeeze bottles too — Conroy Foods' "Flip tip" cap promises one hand use and has a similar lock onto the shoulder design as French's. If you don’t have faith in these lids, you can buy a Flip-it Cap that has a tripod design which keeps the bottle stored lid-side down, so you won’t waste any mustard.
