Five Guys has a lot of fans, and the chain is loved by both customers and employees, with Forbes placing the chain on its best large employers list in 2021, per Five Guys. While many are partial to Five Guys, one former NBA star loved it so much that he owned 10% of all Five Guys restaurants for a time.
Shaquille O'Neal once owned 155 Five Guys restaurants, which was 10% of the entire franchise; he started by purchasing a location in Atlanta in 2008, and the partnership blossomed from there, per VettedBiz. Per CNBC, the star eventually sold the restaurants he owned but ended on good terms with the company.
While the NBA star once had a lot of stock in Five Guys, it's far from the only thing he has ever invested in. According to NBC Sports, the basketball legend has a net worth of over $400 million, and a lot of it is due to his savvy investments, such as Auntie Annie's Pretzels and Papa John's (per CNN), as well as 150 car washes and 40 fitness centers.
