The Dried Pasta Brand Giada De Laurentiis Can't Stop Using
By Chris Day
Being the host of the Food Network show "Giada at Home," the recipient of a Daytime Emmy as well as a Gracie Award, and the author of ten cookbooks, Giada De Laurentiis clearly knows her way around the kitchen. While many people believe all brands of pasta are alike, we should trust De Laurentiis when she says that one pasta brand stands above the rest.
You might think fresh pasta is the only choice of traditional Italian cooks, but dried pasta is actually used most often in Italy and is considered a high-quality product just as delicious as its fresh counterpart. De Laurentiis agrees with this statement and is a devotee of the Italian brand Setaro’s pasta, saying "when [its] cooked al dente, [it] tastes just like fresh pasta."
Setaro, one of the few brands of pasta included in the chef’s online shop, Giadzy, has been making pasta in Naples, Italy, since 1939 and now distributes its products worldwide. The drying process is crucial to good pasta, and De Laurentiis’s website says Setaro air-dries its bronze die-cut pasta traditionally in the cool breezes from the Mediterranean Sea.
