The Customization Hack To Majorly Upgrade Jimmy John's Caprese Sub
By Sarah Richter
Each fast food chain has menu items that lend themselves to customization, and now Jimmy John’s has joined the club with its latest limited-time hackable sandwich, the Caprese Salami Pesto. It contains tomatoes, Genoa salami, basil pesto, balsamic glaze, olive oil, oregano, onion, mayonnaise, and mozzarella, and there’s a way to upgrade it even further.
An extra dose of roasted tomatoes is the tasty ticket to upgrading this Jimmy John's sandwich, packed with an umami flavor that really jazzes up the mozzarella and pesto. Umami is the fifth taste (after bitter, sour, salty, and sweet) that is often described as savory, giving your sandwich an extra dose of flavor.
This extra dose of tomatoes can of course be added in person, but if you're ordering online, click the "customize sandwich" option, which will initiate a dropdown menu. Then, click "Xtra" for the slow-tomatoes option on that menu and just click, add, order, and enjoy your entirely free extra dose of roasted tomatoes.
