The Country That Produces The Most Avocados Worldwide
By C.A. Pinkham
Avocados have become integral to the cuisine of numerous global cultures, and the country that provides the majority of the world's avocados is Mexico.
Avocados originally hail from Mexico, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that Mexico is so far ahead of every other country in avocado production.
Available evidence indicates that avocados were first grown roughly 10,000 years ago in Puebla, which is in southern central Mexico.
Mexico produces approximately 2,443,000 tons of avocados annually, and Colombia, the second-largest avocado producer, produces around 980,000 tons annually.
Peru sits at number three with around 777,000 annual tons, and the rest of the top ten includes the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Haiti, Chile, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Kenya.
