The Canned Ingredient You Should Have For The Juiciest Fried Chicken
By Julia Mullaney
Instead of creating your own batter mixture to get juicy fried chicken, simply pop open a can of cream of chicken soup and whisk in an egg.
Cream of chicken soup has the same consistency as batter, but since it's made with different ingredients, it won't react to the fryer the same way batter does.
As a result, you need some kind of breading layer on top of it that will create a crispy exterior coating while keeping the chicken soup close to the dish.
You can use breadcrumbs, flour, or cornstarch for the breading, and make sure you season it with salt and pepper, plus any other desired seasonings.
Once the chicken is dredged and coated, let it sit until the exterior coating resembles a dough-like consistency before frying.
The end result is a juicy batch of fried chicken that's perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.
