To give your coleslaw a bold upgrade, add horseradish for a strong, pungent flavor that gives the dish some noticeable punch and dimension.

A reasonable amount won't overpower your coleslaw's other flavors since the dish's creamy dressing can balance the kick of horseradish.

If you opt for prepared horseradish, which is typically a combination of horseradish and vinegar, use 1 to 3 tablespoons on your coleslaw.

For a stronger and spicier kick, simply grate fresh horseradish root directly onto your coleslaw. Use half of the amount you would use for prepared horseradish.
