The Bakery Behind Some Of Aldi's And Costco's Tasty Baked Goods
By Camryn Teder
Costco and Aldi frequently call on third parties to craft some of their most popular goods, and these chains rely on one Sugar Bowl Bakery for their brownie bites and madeleines.
This bakery chain bakes its madeleines using long-standing French recipes so that its cakes are extra buttery and soft, while its brownies are marketed as being rich and decadent.
Sugar Bowl Bakery was founded by the Ly brothers in 1984 and started as a small coffee shop in San Francisco after the brothers fled from Vietnam during the war.
Slowly, the brothers' dreams grew, and the family's passion for baked goods led them to expand, becoming one of the largest minority-owned businesses in the U.S.
In addition to its popular madeleines and brownie bites, Sugar Bowl Bakery also produces flaky palmiers and mango mini cakes, among countless other baked goods.
Amazon shoppers have praised Sugar Bowl Bakery's madeleines for their taste and consistency, saying they were better than other U.S. and European bakeries.
The brand's brownie bites have also garnered praise for their soft and chewy texture, with one fan suggesting they're great heated and served with ice cream.
