According to Reddit, Aldi hit it out of the park again with its Mama Cozzi brand Tomato Mozzarella Sorrentina, a traditional, canoe-shaped pizza originating from Sorrento, Italy.
Redditors commented, saying this product is one to stock up on for a fun and filling snack. As stated by one Aldi shopper, "I almost bought these but didn't, kicking myself."
Another person said they're bound to "regret not buying more," a sentiment that was shared by many others. Some people also reported not seeing them in their local Aldi.
You have Chef Antonino Esposito to thank for Sorrentina. Originally from Sorrento, Italy, he believes in eschewing pizza conventions and the signature round shape of most pies.
Esposito's pizza includes fior di latte, a type of cow's milk cheese similar to mozzarella, and datterini tomatoes, which are a small, fleshy variety known for their sweet flavor.
Aldi's version contains mozzarella and tomatoes, but there's no indication that it uses the same types of cheese and filling varieties as the original Sorrentina pizza.
